. . . on registration:

  • Is there an application deadline?
    • No. Tri-State has a rolling application process with no deadlines.
  • What needs to be done to apply?
    • All students must complete an application form and send it to the Office of Admission with a non-refundable $20 application fee or apply on-line for free by clicking here.
    • New freshman (someone who has never attended college) must
      • submit an official high school transcript to the Office of Admission. A final transcript stating date of graduation must be forwarded after graduation;
      • submit official ACT or SAT scores. (Not required if you have been out of high school for five years or more.)
    • Transfer students (someone who has previously attended college) must
      • submit official college transcripts for all institutions attended;
      • submit a copy of final high school transcript along with date of graduation.

. . . . on paying bills:

  • When are fees due for each semester?
    • Fall semester bills must be paid by August 1 and spring semester bills must be paid by January 2. If bills are not paid, classes will be dropped.

. . . . on housing:

  • Are on-campus accommodations automatically assigned?
    • No. You must apply for an assignment to a resident hall by doing the following:
      • Read and sign a housing contract
      • Fill out the Student Life Questionnaire
      • Pay a required $150 housing deposit. Deposit may be paid online.
      • Deliver all of the above to the Office of Admission
  • Can I specify a roommate?
    • Yes. Both individuals involved must list each other as roommates on their Student Life Questionnaire.
  • Am I required to live on campus?
    • Yes and no. Students who are 21 or younger must live on campus or with a parent or guardian.
  • How about the food?
    • Nineteen meals are served each week in the cafeteria, which is located in Stewart Hall. You may choose a 10 or 19 meals-per-week plan.

  • What’s the social life like at TSU?
    • There are many ways you can be involved in campus life, whether you live in the dorm or off campus.
      • 45% of TSU students participate in intercollegiate sports.
      • Several intramural opportunities are available.
      • 30% of TSU students participate in fraternities or sororities.
      • There are many clubs, organizations, and professional and honor societies on campus.
      • Don’t forget free Monday Movie Night!

  • What will make me successful at TSU?
    • All classes are taught by faculty members, not graduate students or teaching assistants.
    • Class sizes are small. Freshman classes have a maximum of 30-35 students. Core classes average 10-15 students.
