Welcome to BEST Camp 2004!

BEST, which stands for Bolting into Engineering, Science and Technology, Camp is now in its third year at Tri-State University.  It is an opportunity for middle school students (6th, 7th & 8th graders) to get a feel for what engineering, science, and technology are all about and experience the diversity of these fields.

This year many exciting and thought-provoking activities are planned to take place.  On the very first day of camp, we will be focusing on the field of civil engineering.  The following day is centered around chemical engineering and material science.  Day number three will consist of a tour of a local manufacturing facility as well as an activity in mechanical engineering.  Chemistry and forensic science are on the menu for the following day, which promises to be especially interesting.  To conclude this exciting week, campers will choose an activity in which they are most interested.  These activities range from spectroscopy, to polymers, to wind tunnels.  Moreover, all days will be rounded off with fun games and videos.  Parents get to visit TSU, as well, to attend the awards ceremony.  This information session and party are definitely going to be a blast!

Now that you've been introduced to BEST Camp, feel free to browse this web site and inform yourself even further.  There are pictures from last year's camp, as well as experiments that you can do at home.  Have fun and enjoy BEST Camp!
