The
Trine Guest Cottage, is named in honor of Ralph and Sheri Trine, who
provided materials and financial resources for the refurbishing of this
house built in 1883. The house was bought by two former Tri-State
students—Harold and Pearl Brown—in 1923. The Pearls' daughter, Elizabeth,
lived in the house until 1991, which is when Tri-State bought the property.
Elizabeth is better known as Prof. Beth Orlosky. She began teaching at
Tri-State in 1956 and hosted a variety of school-related events in the home.
Orlosky's legacy to the school is her book, "From Carriage to Computer: The
First One Hundred Years of Tri-State University."
The cottage is used to provide lodging for special campus
guests.
