ASCE
The Tri-State University Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) was chartered in 1965. Membership is open to all civil engineering students and is highly recommended. Student members may also become STUDENT GRADE MEMBERS of the national ASCE and enjoy membership benefits. The purpose of the Chapter is to promote professionalism and service through various activities. Annual events include the concrete canoe and steel bridge competitions. Listed below are highlights of the activities over the years.

1996 ~ Participant in AISC Steel Bridge Building Competition, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagne Service Projects: Street Inventory for the Town of Angola

1995 ~ Participant in AISC Steel Bridge Building Competition, University of Wisconsin, Madison. Service Projects: Surveying work for TSU Athletic Department

1994 ~ Service project: sidewalk construction adjacent to dormitory; material and labor donated. Participated in the ACI Concrete Canoe and AISC Steel Bridge Building Competition, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

1993 ~ Participant in AISC Steel Bridge Building Competition, Purdue University.

1992 ~ Host, regional concrete canoe race (Kendallville).

1991 ~ Recipient of national ASCE Certificate of Honorable Mention and Certificate of Significant Improvement. Ranked among nation's top 1/3 chapters.

1990 ~ Service project: Construction of 87 ft sidewalk adjacent to the Aerospace Annex; materials and labor donated.

1987 ~ Winner, 1st Place for Chapter Activities, 25th Great Lakes Regional Conference, Purdue University, W. Lafayette (16 participating universities).

1986 ~ Host, regional concrete canoe race (Angola).

1972 ~ Start of regional concrete canoe race.

1969 ~ Host, 7th Great Lakes Regional Conference.

CHI EPSILON
The Tri-State University Student Chapter of Chi Epsilon was initiated in 1973 as the 82nd chapter of the National Civil Engineering Honor Society. Membership is selective and is by invitation only. The Chapter's function is to promote scholarship, character and sociability among civil engineering students. The Chapter provides free tutoring service for those in need, and engages in similar scholarly activities.
