The mission of the electrical engineering program is to:
Produce technically capable and socially responsible graduates who will contribute positively to the complex needs of society in the twenty-first century; and to
 
Provide technical and educational services to the community.

Engineering is that profession in which knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgement to develop ways to utilize, economically, the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind. A significant measure of an engineering education is the degree to which it has prepared a graduate to pursue a productive engineering career that is characterized by continued professional growth.

Student objectives in the electrical engineering program at Tri-State University are:

  1. Students possess a capability to delineate and solve, in a practical way, the problems of society that are susceptible to engineering treatment.
  2. Student possess a sensitivity to the social aspects of technical problems that confront the professions.
  3. Students possess an understanding of the ethical basis of the engineering profession and practice.
  4. Students possess an understanding of the engineer's responsibility to protect both occupational and public health and safety.
  5. Students possess an ability to maintain professional competence through lifelong learning.
  6. Students possess knowledge and competency in engineering sciences.
  7. Students possess an ability to design experiments, perform data acquisition, and make appropriate presentation of data.
  8. Students possess a complete understanding of the engineering design process.
  9. A sequence of capstone design courses is required, which includes a comprehensive engineering design project encompassing the engineering design process; teamwork; an oral presentation; and a professional report.
  10. Students must demonstrate computer literacy.

The electrical engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
