What is electrical and computer
engineering?
The electronic design and structure of communication, sound and control
systems, as well as the design of computer software and hardware are some of the major
areas of concern in electrical and computer engineering.
What are the career opportunities?
Graduates of the electrical and computer engineering department find
challenging positions managing and directing projects in software design, hardware design,
business applications, digital computers, instrumentation, signal processing, control
systems, power generation, medical electronics, bioengineering, sound engineering,
integrated circuits, plasmas, fuel cells, analog computers, meteorological
instrumentation, extra-high voltage transmission, information theory, satellites, orbiting
observatories, laser technology and teaching.
What areas of specialization are available?
Students majoring in electrical engineering may choose one of the following areas of
concentration: Computer Engineering, Communication Systems and Signal Processing, or
Electronics and Device Theory.
