ETD 513 CAD/CAM Fall. 3 cr. required, CAD or Manufacturing
Techniques utilizing PC computers and modern CAD/CAM software; solid modeling; finite element analysis; design for manufacturing, including assembly. CNC machining coupled with CAD design.
ETD 523 Parametric Modeling Fall. 3 cr. required, CAD or Manufacturing
Develop skills in modeling using screen layout, space viewing, coordinates, workbenches building surfaces, and solids. Exploration of product concept through design, assembly, testing, manufacturing and modeling with rendering capabilities.
ETD 533 Computer Aided Design Analysis Spring. 3 cr. required, CAD
A course in Computer-Aided design analysis with the use of parametric modeling and design using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) .
ETD 543 Computer Numerical Control Fall. 3 cr. required, CAD or Manufacturing
Principles and applications of numerical control of machine tools. Testing and specification of machine tool accuracy and repeatability.
ETD 553 Statistical Process Control Fall. 3 cr. required, CAD or Manufacturing
Statistical process control principles for understanding quality assurance, customer focus, TQM, process capability, control charts, concurrent engineering, Taguchi's method, product liability and reliability, ISO, QS, Deming and Baldridge awards. Also included will be the Design of Experiments.
ETD 583 Metrology Spring 3 cr. optional, Manufacturing.
Pre-requisite: ETD 553
A course in the technology of measurements related to the procedures for conducting inspection and tests; including control, gage capability, repair, calibration and CMM measurement devices.
ETD 593 Automated Manufacturing Spring. 3 cr. required, CAD
Study of the technology associated with computer aided manufacturing. Conventional manufacturing technologies and methods will be introduced followed by computer automation.
ETD 563 Advanced Computer Numerical Control Spring. 3 cr. required, Manufacturing.
Pre-requisite: ETD 543
Translation of design ideas into specifications for equipment and programming for production. Integration of the complete CAD/CAM cycle.
ETD 573 Computer Integrated Manufacturing Spring. 3 cr. optional, Manufacturing
Pre-requisite: ETD 593.
Computer assisted process planning and estimating. Concepts of computer control and feedback mechanisms. Design considerations for machine tools, machining cells, robotics, and flexible manufacturing systems.
ETD 596 Applied Research Project Spring. 6 cr. required, CAD or Manufacturing.
Pre-requisite
A project application conducted under the supervision of a faculty advisor in partnership with industry.
This project offers the student the opportunity to integrate theory and course work with practice. Final project review and acceptance by faculty committee.
