• Our mission: The mission of Tri-State University, a private institution founded in 1884, is to provide career-oriented higher education in the areas of engineering, business, arts and sciences, and teacher education in a learning environment in which students receive personal attention through small classes and excellent teaching. The Institution's undergraduate and graduate programs encourage and foster lifelong learning that prepare graduates to be productive in professional-level positions early in their careers, to advance to leadership roles, and to provide service to society.
• New facilities: TSU’s new University Center and Center for Online Technology now offers 73,000 square feet of amenities, including a 320-seat theater, indoor and outdoor dining, library, fitness center, and even a rock climbing wall in a sleek new central hub of activity. Underscoring TSU’s technology focus, the center also incorporates state-of-the-art technology, including a global workplace, Center for Digital Excellence, and multipurpose and digital media group training spaces. Renovations to the C.W. Sponsel Administration Center preserve the original tuck pointing of the historic Sniff building, and the gracious space accommodates two department offices, a presidential suite, and elegant conference room. Planned renovations to the Ketner School of Business and Franks School of Education include new infrastructure and technology, with fiber optic network, wireless environment, and shared multimedia access to resources for teaching (SMART) classrooms.
• On-campus housing: Women reside in Cameron and Alwood halls. Men reside in Conrad, Platt, Fabiani, and Stewart halls. Kinney Street, University Center, and Moss Street apartments offer suite-style living in a co-ed environment. Moss Street apartments are available to academically talented freshmen. These new student apartment buildings have private suites and restrooms, and include a recreation area equipped with pool tables, air hockey tables, and a big screen television. In addition, each common area offers a fireplace and small bistro area. Townhouse-style housing is also available to third- and fourth-year students. All TSU housing is non-smoking.
• Athletics: TSU is a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the NCAA Division III Conference, offering 21 varsity sports and intramural recreation.
• Placement rate: TSU is a national leader in the placement rate (90 percent within six months) of students who find work in their fields of study after graduation. Their starting salaries also rank among the highest in every major category in the nation.

• Accreditation: TSU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. TSU’s educational programs are accredited through the Indiana Professional Standards Board and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. TSU’s programs in chemical, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology
• Majors and degrees: There are over 35 programs offered to students in engineering, mathematics, science, computer science, business, teacher education, communication, criminal justice, forensic science, golf management, and various other fields of study.
• Percentage of students receiving need-based or merit-based financial aid: Over 90 percent of our students receive some form of financial assistance. TSU distributed over $9 million of institutional funds for scholarships and grants. It has earned the third consecutive listing in U.S. News & World Report among colleges and universities whose graduates carry the least amount of debt.
• Housing requirements: All students are required to live on campus until they complete 48 hours and have lived on campus for four semesters. Students who are married, responsible for a dependent child, living at home with a parent or legal guardian, or 21 years of age may be waived from the on-campus living requirement. Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) to live in campus housing.
• Faculty: Educated at some of the top universities in nation, our professors are also skilled in the workplace, offering students the fundamentals in education plus real-world expertise and hands-on experience.
