Job Description
This position is responsible for providing primary technical support of Tri-State University data and voice communications networks. Responsibilities include design of network configuration and performance monitoring, ensuring maximum availability and performance of wired and wireless LAN’s. The position requires a strong background in enterprise network design and hardware, including HP Procurve, Windows domains, and VPN’s.  Providing backup support for server and PC administration functions is also required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor network configuration, performance, and activity ensuring 100% planned uptime
  • Provide Network Access Control administration, using Bradford Networks Campus Manager platform
  • Provide network planning and design for future growth, ensuring capacity, bandwidth, and security to support applications requirements
  • Troubleshoot problems with networks, web services, mail services, applications software, desktop/server relationship issues and overall aspects of environment
  • Install and configure new network hardware, software releases, system upgrades; evaluate and install patches
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of operating systems, programming languages and hardware
  • Participate in QA testing and integration of new sever and desktop software
  • Provide backup support for server administration
  • Assist Help Desk with client support as needed
  • Other projects/duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in Systems Administration function for enterprise level network, including both wired and wireless VLAN’s
  • Experience with Network Access Control systems
  • Advanced knowledge of networking and networking hardware
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of Microsoft Exchange, VMWare, ISA, SMS, Backup Exec, and SANS
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of personal computer technologies
  • Exposure to one or more of the following; Linux (RedHat/SUSE/Ubuntu), Visual Basic Script, HP ProCurve, firewalls, wireless, Mac workstations in a windows Domain
  • Works under general supervision; reporting to the CIO. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals independently
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to mange projects and handle multiple tasks in an organized fashion
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information

Required Education

Bachelor degree in MIS or Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
