Happy Thanksgiving
I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving holiday. May you all be blessed with the happiness of family and friends. There is a lot to be grateful for. This has been a great year at TSU.
Assistant Vice President for Study Abroad
Congratulations to Dr. Dolores Tichenor who will now serve in a new capacity at Tri-State University. The current Dean of the Jannen School of Arts and Sciences will now fill the positions of Assistant Vice President of Study Abroad, Director of Institutional Planning and Analysis, and tenured professor of the Department of Math and Computer Science effective Dec. 11.
Campus Master Plan
I traveled to North Carolina on Nov. 13 to update Dr. Ralph Ketner on the master plan. As you all know, the Ketner School of Business and the Ketner Sports Center are named in honor of the 1939 accounting alum. Ketner has been a proud supporter of TSU over the years and is very interested in the University’s current and future changes.
Morning, Noon, and Night
Bob Remington, Michael Bock and I had the opportunity to have breakfast with Jack Shaw on Nov. 15 in Radcliffe Conference Room. Shaw is a former trustee of TSU and now owns and operates the Great American Clydesdale in Orland, Ind.
Later that day, I traveled to Fort Wayne, Ind. to meet with the President and CEO of Sweetwater Sound Inc., Chuck Surack. His father is a 1959 chemical engineering alum.
I was pleased to see the great attendance for the faculty/staff mixer sponsored by Academic Affairs. Aside from games and prizes, the event featured the recognition of Dean Dolores Tichenor, who was presented with a corsage and globe for her recent recognition from the Women’s Fund of the Steuben County Community Foundation and her recent promotion to Assistant Vice President of the Study Aboard Program.
Campus Planning Visit
Trustees Larry Franks and Richard Oeder visited campus to review the progress of the master plan. Both serve as co-chair on the campus planning committee. The University Center and Center for Online Technology and Resources, the Sponsel Administration Center, and new residence halls were visible reminders of the progress we have made.
