As
Tri-State University’s president, it is a pleasure to welcome
you to the University and our Web site. TSU is located in
Angola,
Indiana—a safe and inviting community of 8,000 that lies
in the heart of Steuben County. Known as the “County of 101
Lakes,” Steuben County is one of the tri-state area’s
most popular recreation and vacation destinations. TSU is no more
than a three-hour drive from Chicago, Detroit, and Indianapolis.
TSU is a baccalaureate and master’s degree-granting institution
that offers a wide range of career-oriented, professional programs
that, among many, include engineering, business, golf management
(one of only three such programs in the tri-state region), forensic
science, criminal justice, and teacher education (which offers
a strong focus in math and science). TSU’s curriculum offers
students professionally focused programs with a liberal arts foundation.
Programs within TSU’s five schools—Allen School of Engineering & Technology, Franks School of Education, Jannen School of Arts & Sciences, and Ketner
School of Business—are hands-on, real-world, and skill-based. And in our School
of Professional Studies, we offer academic programs for working adults in five locations. When students graduate from TSU, they
are well prepared for the workforce. Employers recognize that TSU graduates have the benefit of a superb academic background
combined with unsurpassed work readiness. The placement rate of TSU students in work related to their majors within six months
of graduation is among the highest in the country. Starting salaries exceed the national average in every category.
Personal attention is one of the hallmarks of academics at TSU.
Faculty are passionately dedicated to teaching and their students.
Students and faculty interact freely in classrooms that usually
average no more than 15 students.
We are especially excited about our campus renewal initiative,
labeled a new era in TSU history. Due to our successful Vision for the Future capital campaign, our academic, dining, athletic, and residence facilities
across campus have been or are in the process of being renovated
or newly constructed (including our new University Center and Center for Technology and Online Resources, which houses our library). The energy infused throughout campus by
this renaissance is truly remarkable.
Again, welcome to the TSU community. We encourage you to plan
a campus visit. And
when you get here, please stop by my office. My door is always
open and you are always welcome.
