Honors Program

TSU’s first-ever Honors Program began in the fall semester of 2006, giving students the opportunity to pursue a more in-depth understanding of topics in their major as well as in other areas of interest.

Requirements for first year:

  •  A minimum SAT 1220 (R+M)/ACT 27
  •  High school GPA of 3.75 or higher

Those students who meet above qualifications and receive a TSU Competitive Scholarship will be granted automatic admission into the program. Students who meet the criteria but do not receive a competitive scholarship will be admitted as space allows. The Honors Program director will review credentials of incoming freshman and will make recommendations for final approval to the Honors Program Advisory Board.

The Honors Program consists of four components:

  •  The Introduction to Honors Seminar (HNR 101)
  •  Honors courses or contract courses
  •  Enrichment experiences
  •  Honors thesis

In order to graduate from the Honors Program, these four areas must be successfully completed while maintaining a GPA of 3.50.

Key benefits:

  •  Priority registration
  •  Social events sponsored by the Honors Program
  •  Special recognition at graduation.
