I am sorry I will not be able to attend the reunion. I would like to renew old chemical engineering student acquaintances by email at fknoop@suddenlink.net.
I received a M.S in Ch. E from Michigan State and was able to work 43 years for PPG Industries at New Martinsville, W.V. I think that is unusual in this industry. Worked many kinds of jobs from R&D, Tech, Operations, Process Safety Manager in the Chlor-Alkali business. Always enjoyed the challenges. My first wife died of a brain tumor at 52 and I have since remarried. I have been retired for 7 years and have had good health. Enjoy golf, boating on the Ohio River, snow skiing, and travel. I am a graduate of Tri-State who greatly appreciates the good engineering education that I received in Angola. I am proud to say that my mother celebrated her 100 birthday in April. Would like to hear from fellow graduates.

To the Class of 1958:
I am sorry that I will not be at the reunion to get reacquainted with you after these fifty years. I am sure there are many interesting stories to tell about the events in everyone's life. I am grateful to have attended Tri-State and for all of thefriendships with students and faculty during those years. Tri-State has had a great influence on my life.
After twenty-seven years with General Motors and about ten years as a technical consultant, my wife Kathy and I settled down here in Palm Coast, Florida seven years ago.We love our life here. I play golf an average of three times per week and Kathy is involved in a number of activities including bridge clubs, book clubs, and a women's club. We have also enjoyed belonging to a ballroom dance group for the past six years.
Best wishes to all of you for many more fulfilling years.

Like any other 1958 EE, I well remember Clyde Shaw and how if you got to his 8:00 AM class 1 minuet late you had just missed a very important test. Although I do not remember the exact costs of many of life's staples at that time, I do remember engineers were is short demand that summer and a starting salary of $4500 annual, was the best I could find to support my family.
After spending several years in engineering at manufacturers of high fidelity equipment, I returned to Indiana in 1972 and started my manufacturers representative firm selling consumer electronic products, which I continue to do today. These past many years I have used my TriState engineering degree as a sales tool.
I hope I can make the 50th anniversary.

I’m sure none of us 58 EEs will ever forget Clyde Shaw, the Head of the Electrical Engineering Department. He was tough, demanding, and sometimes eccentric. He insisted we act and think like professionals starting with Day 1. His classes were a very effective preparation for life after graduation. I, for one, will always be grateful to Professor Shaw. I know he made a positive impact on my career even though at the time I sometimes felt a lot of pressure.

58 Classmates:
I hope you will plan to return for our 50th Anniversary during the Homecoming weekend. If you have not been on campus in some time you will be astonished at all the progress we have made in the last few years. We have beautiful new buildings, new programs, Master Degree programs, 21 intercollegiate sports, restored/refurbished buildings, a great student body (but then we have always had good students) and more. Since 2001 we have raised over $70 million and paid down debt. You will be immensely proud of your University. I urge you to come back and to get involved in your school.
