Any graduate or anyone who has attended Tri-State College/ Tri-State University is officially a member of the Alumni Association. The purposes of the Association are as follows:
- promote the interests and general welfare of Tri-State University
- establish and perpetuate mutually beneficial relations between the University and its alumni
- authorize, promote, and assist in the formation of local alumni chapters or clubs
- elect alumni to the Board of Trustees of the University as requested by said Board.
The board is comprised of 25 elected members. The governors shall serve a term of three years and are eligible for elections to subsequent terms. The term of office commences at the annual meeting held during Homecoming.
The Board meets three times a year and assists in the areas of admissions, development, and special events. The board also plans and administers our three alumni awards.
It is the responsibility of the alumni awards committee to plan and administer for the Tri-State University Alumni Board of Governors the recognition of Tri-State alumni in three general categories:
- The Outstanding Achievement Award is given by the Board of Governors to one alumnus/ae each year who has attained a high level of achievement in his or her profession, is well thought of in his or her community, and who upholds the ideals of Tri-State University.
- The Distinguished Service Award is given each year to an alumnus/ae who is elected by vote of the governors and who has performed outstanding service to society in his or her profession, personal achievement and community; and who has manifest interest in Tri-State University and has supported it by contributions of time, talent, and money; by recruitment of students; or by placement of graduates.
- The Distinguished Service Young Alumnus/ae Award is presented to an alumnus/ae who is 40 years of age or under, who is elected by vote of the governors, and who meets the standards for the Distinguished Service Award.
The board will select annually one person per category who will receive the awards at the Homecoming Dinner each year.
