Friends of Tri-State University can show their support for TSU students by attending the fifth annual Black and White Scholarship Gala on Feb. 16 in Ketner Sports Center beginning at 6 p.m. All proceeds will channel into the TSU Scholarship Fund to provide educational funding for deserving students.

TSU loses a friend
Tri-State University commemorated the life of assistant professor and the former TSU English and Communication Department chair Dr. Lisa Toner on Tuesday, Jan. 22 in Fabiani Theatre. Dr. Toner died Dec. 4 in New York on her 41st birthday after a battle with cancer.

TSU’s fall student enrollment jumped by 33 percent over last year, according to an admission application report from the TSU Office of Admission.

Tri-State University will celebrate the unique human rights legacy of the late Dr. Martin Luther King during its 18th annual Dr. Martin Luther King and Black History Month Celebration Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. in the University Center’s Fabiani Theatre

The Office of Student Life and Bon Appetit will sponsor a Locks of Love event in Whitney Commons from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Those who wish can donate locks of hair 10 inches or longer for children suffering hair loss from physical ailments.

Indiana native, international scholar, novelist, and attorney Robert Ely will elucidate on the subtleties and impact of language in the presentation “Language and a Nostalgia for World Culture” as part of TSU’s Distinguished Speaker series at 7 p.m. in Fabiani Theatre.

Cutoff date for students ages 9-14 to apply for participation in the 10 member LEGO Thunder FIRST LEGO League team at TSU. The TSU team will provide a unique opportunity for youths with a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to work with faculty and students in the schools of engineering and technology. Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. in Fawick Hall 226.
