Communication: Skills to Give You the Edge

Why did 100 percent of the communication program's 2005 and 2006 graduates quickly find communication-related jobs? Why within a year of graduating did most of our 2005 graduates get major promotions, move on to even better positions at other companies, or win national publication awards? The answer to both questions is that our communication program enables our students to develop sharp skills, knowledge, and preparation that give them the edge over other job applicants.

Our program is especially strong in preparing you for a career in public relations, corporate communication, or radio, but the skills you learn can also help you to succeed in law school, graduate school, or in a variety of careers, such as journalism, electronic communication, technical communication, sales, and business. Through lots of individual attention and small classes, we help you to develop exceptional skills in speaking, writing, researching, reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving. Unlike most communication programs, our program is in an English and Communication Department, so our graduating students' writing skills are as strong as their oral communication skills, which is especially important for careers in public relations and corporate communication.
