The typical Computer Science major enjoys technology. Specifically,
they like to configure software, whether it is browsers, operating
systems, servers, modems, routers or plain application programs.
Others enjoy working more with the hardware, i.e. building their
own system, adding additional memory, disks, video cards and peripheral
devices. Some enjoy the pure notion of programming, custom, WEB
or system programming. Generally computer science majors are also
problem solvers and experimenters. Can they configure a dual boot
system with a choice of Windows or Unix? Can they configure a
small network with a Linix server and Windows Client Machines?
Do you fit any or all or some of the above? If so, you most likely
would be successful computer science major.
Our Bachelor’s of Computer Science Degree stresses course
work in Computer Science, Mathematics, Communications, Humanities,
Social Science and Technical Elective Courses. Since Tri-State
has a school of Engineering and a school of Business, our program
is unique in that a student can choose the area in which to take
Technical Electives. These electives may be in Engineering courses,
Business courses or Science courses. Many of our students elect
to take their technical electives in TSU’s Department of
Computer Engineering, and others choose to take School of Business
electives.
