Tri-State
University’s psychology major is one of the more popular on
campus. You will have the further opportunity, as many do, to double
major in both psychology and criminal justice, which is one of the
nation's fastest growing job fields.
Our department offers students the option of taking practicum courses,
which
allow a practical, hands-on experience in psychology and related
areas. For
instance, students have spent time in school psychologists' offices,
hospitals,
treatment centers, forensic psychology settings, child centers,
and the like.
An exceptional variety of internship opportunities are available
throughout the
region. Further, students have been placed in residential programs
for troubled
children and teens. In fact, you may be able to register for a summer
internship
near where you live, an option several students take advantage of
each year.
I would like you to know that many of our psychology majors
have obtained
jobs through these internships, which makes our program quite
useful as a
link to future occupational opportunities.
