Arts & Sciences > 40 Majors > Sports Management
“It’s game time,” there is excitement in the air…

The goal of Tri-State University’s Sports Management curriculum is to prepare our majors for these ever-expanding career opportunities. By combining a schedule of course work that includes a minor in Business with the HPS classes that focus on issues such as Risk Management, Facility Planning, and Principles of Sport and Recreation Management, the student will be exposed to information that will prepare them for their capstone experience, which is an internship with a sport related business.

Some of our past students have had internships with Pacers Entertainment, the Cleveland Cavilers, the Charlotte Bobcats, the Fort Wayne Freedom, the South Bend Seahawks, the Louisville Bats, USA Volleyball, and the United States Olympic Committee.

The skills of a sport management major include sales, marketing, budgeting, staffing, event planning, and community relations.

With every new season a sports team is optimistic about their chances of bringing home a championship, but the bottom line of a sports franchise occurs off the field in the offices of the sport management staff whose job it is to provide the public with a sage, customer friendly, and entertaining experience that makes the organization profitable.
