Visiting Writer Les Edgerton is finishing up his ninth book, a history of baseball showcase giant Perfect Game USA for McFarland Publishing. His former books include a novel, a collection of short stories, three business books, a spoof on youth baseball (co-written with his then-12-year-old son Mike), and two writing books. His work has been nominated for the Pushcart, the O. Henry Award, Jesse Jones Award, the PEN/Faulkner Award, the Edgar Allan Poe Award, the Violet Crown Book Award. One of his screenplays was a semifinalist for the Academy Awards Nichols Fellowship and another was a finalist for the Writer's Guild and Best of Austin Awards. He came to Tri-State after three years as Writer-in-Residence at the University of Toledo, and has taught at UCLA and St. Francis University. He teaches creative writing online for the Gotham Writers School. He also ghostwrites for the Penn Group LLC and coaches a group of Malibu novel writers, composed of Hollywood executives. He lives in Ft. Wayne with his wife Mary and son Mike, a senior at Snider H.S. and pitcher for the Panther baseball team.
