Dan Matthews is an associate professor in the Department
of Math and Computer Science. Among the many classes he
teaches is the project class, Capstone, where students
design commercial-based projects for local businesses.
Students in his class have designed an interface control
system for robotics, a reservation system for Pokagon
State Park, and an online costumer service system for
Vestil Manufacturing. Matthews is a TSU alum, graduating
with bachelor’s degree in math. He also has a master’s
degree from Indiana University. A loyal football fan,
Matthews has coached at the high school level and at TSU
under the first football coach Dale Carlson. Dan was the
first faculty president at TSU, having written and implemented
the first faculty governance at TSU.
Dan lives in Auburn Indiana with his wife Ruth and their
5 children ages 5 to 19. He still plays basketball in
a mens league, roller blades and bikes with his children
and is active in his church. Dan plays the guitar and
considers himself a good chef. He has been with TSU for
25 years.

Source Development Group Attended OSCON convention in
Portland, Oregon
• Used new technology in classroom to enhance lectures
• Learned three new scripting languages to teach
in the new Scripting Language class offered by the Computer
Science Department (Python, Ruby, and Windows Scripting)
• Extensive contact with alumni to get feedback
