Bio: John Milliken, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Education: B.A., Ohio State University, J.D., University of Toledo. Having practical law for 26 years and serving as a substitute judge, John Milliken brings a unique perspective to the criminal justice department. He received his law degree from the University of Toledo, and his bachelor’s degree was in sociology from Ohio State University.

Milliken has been a part of the Tri-State family since 2003. He teaches introduction to government, criminal law, procedure and evidence, and American Constitutional development. He is also the father to Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity house. In addition, Milliken plays a role in finding criminal justice majors a required internship, which has included positions in probation offices, sheriff’s departments, jails, U.S. marshals, private security firms and many more fields.

Prior to coming to TSU, Milliken helped to establish and teach a criminal justice program at Four County Area Vocational Cooperative. TSU recently opened a branch campus at the cooperative for students to receive college credits in various areas, including criminal justice.

• Attended ACJA National Conference in Chicago and regional conference in South Bend
• Chapter advisor–Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity:
• Assisted with summer house improvement projects
• Met with alumni and university officials regarding potential new house construction project
• Served as moderator and group facilitator at Sigma Phi Epsilon Carlson
• Leadership Academy in Chicago
• Participant in TSU blood drive
• Regularly meet with prospective students referred by Admissions Department
• Serve as mentor to prospective students
• Created General Studies Major with Concentrations in Pre-Legal Studies and Social Studies

• Wrote curriculum for SPS Bachelor degree program in Emergency Management
