Professor David Syler is the chair of the Department
of Math and Computer Science. Among the classes he teaches
are data structures, trigonometry, and calculus. His educational
background includes a bachelor’s degree in math
from Heidelberg College, a master’s degree in math
from Bowling Green State University, and another master’s
degree in computer science from Ball State University.
On campus since 1968, his accomplishments include starting
the following courses: MA443 Numerical Analysis, EE323ADA
Programming, CS383 Computer Graphics, CS373 Adv
Microcomputers, and INF 273 Video Editing. Professor Syler was the first instructor
for TSU to teach a course in Pascal, Visual Basic, ADA
and first instructor for the TSU graduate course in “C”
programming. Professor Syler has taught part-time in electrical
engineering. His hobbies include gardening, computer graphics,
bicycling, digital photography, genealogy, and singing.
