Christina Zumbrun is a mathematics instructor in the Math and Computer Science department at TSU. She has been at TSU since the fall of 2006 and has taught courses in business algebra, applied math, elements of math, college algebra, calculus I and statistics. She is a native Texan and received her Bachelor of Behavioral Science in Math Education from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. She has a master’s degree in Applied Math and a graduate certificate in Applied Statistics from Purdue University. She holds a dual secondary teaching license in mathematics and English, and is licensed in Indiana and Texas. She has served as a public school teacher in her fields, an adult educator teaching basic education (GED) and ESL classes, an educational consultant for the State of Indiana, a graduate teaching assistant at Purdue University, a limited term lecturer, and a reader for the Advanced Placement Calculus exam. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, church activities, baking, and music.
Internal Accomplishments (service)–
- As the advisor for Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society, she is responsible for inviting, registering, and inducting new members each spring. Officers are elected at the meeting that follows.
- She has served on panels conducting benchmark interviews for the School of Education.
- She serves as a grader for the Annual Math Contest at TSU.
- She attended the General Education Assessment Workshop in May 2007, and joined the committee in the fall of 2007.
- She attended the Collegiate Learning Assessment Web Seminar in the fall of 2007.
- She has utilized the TabletPC and graphing calculators in the classroom.
- She has recently became faculty advisor to Phi Sigma sorority.
External Accomplishments/Activities–
- She serves as a reader for the Advanced Placement Calculus Exam.
- She was featured in an alumni issue for the mathematics department at IPFW.
- She is actively involved in church activities.
- She serves as a Sunday school teacher for preschoolers.
- She is on the Mission Committee at her church.
- She regularly sings special music on Sunday mornings. She participates in a weekly women’s bible study.
