A piece of rock and a living organism may be composed of the
same elements present in similar proportions. Why then can we
think and live, but the rock is inert? The study of biology explains
this miracle. Biology today is no longer just a study of organisms
and their environment. It is advancing rapidly with new discoveries
in molecular biology and biochemistry.
The multifaceted biology program at TSU is designed to prepare
our students for various fields, such as conservation and environmental
programs, government positions, teaching positions, medicine,
research, and industry. Tri-State’s biology program includes
training in modern, recombinant DNA techniques in gene cloning
and chromosomal genetics, using new technology. We also use state-of-the
art, human physiology and anatomy equipment to train students in
laboratories.
The small class size at TSU allows one-on-one discussion, mentoring,
and training in all our classes. An informal and candid rapport
between students and faculty is actively encouraged, and each
student's individual goals are acknowledged and fostered. You
will have the opportunity to access faculty, laboratory resources,
and computer centers at all times.
