Professor McNamara joined TSU in 2007 and completely restructured the Communication Department … in an attempt to fit the needs of the 21st century. The process including moving and remodeling the Ford Building which now provides an ideal undergraduate learning environment for one of the most exciting programs on campus.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio and a U.S. Air Force veteran, McNamara brings more than three decades of media experience to Tri-State.
When he's not in the classroom Mike involves his students when he serves as a consultant with several nonprofit organizations and also during his freelance broadcast assignments throughout the region including the Jamie Farr LPGA Tournament in Toledo and Pro Football Hall of Fame game in Canton for ESPN Radio, ONN/Ohio News Network and Associated Press.

A former college debater and coach, Don is an expert on persuasion and public relations, reasoning, conflict management, and science communication. A former speech writer and a communication consultant and trainer for corporate,
governmental, and nonprofit organizations, Don will be your advisor.

Dr. Petrie has published a critically-acclaimed
book on biography, and his film textbook is used in roughly 400
colleges and universities around the country. The courses that
he teaches include film, media, and creative writing.
