Students leave TSU upon graduation with hands-on experience with state-of-the-art scientific laboratory equipment found in modern crime labs such as the following

• Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer
• Gas Chromatographs with TCD and FID detectors
• High Performance Liquid Chromatograph with Diode Array and Refractive Index detectors
• UV-Visible Spectrometer
• Differential Scanning Calorimeter
• Electrophoresis
• PCR
• Various titrators

In addition, the department has a fiber/hair comparison microscope and a ballistics microscope that is available for student use. TSU is the only school in Indiana which has these specialty microscopes.
