Blaz came to Tri-State University in 1976, soon after receiving his doctorate in experimental psychology at the University of Kentucky. His dissertation concerned animal learning, and his graduate minor was in philosophy of science.
Since coming to Tri-State, he has taught a myriad of courses, including Principles of Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Child Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, and Political Psychology.
Among his hobbies is an interest in ancient Greek history, the classical period, which he has read in-depth for the past 30 years. He has taught a humanities honor course several times on the Peloponnesian War and ancient Greek culture.
He has served as a fraternity advisor to Phi Kappa Theta and spent a decade as part of the Steuben County Mental Health Association. In addition, he was on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern Center, northeast Indiana’s mental health center.

Suzanne
Lenhart (2002) 
Adjunct Professor of Psychology

Suzanne Lenhart is an adjunct professor of psychology, having been with TSU’s Department of Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Social Sciences since Fall, 2002. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Defiance College and Master of Arts degree in individual, marriage, and family counseling through Antioch University McGregor.
Lenhart came to teaching after a 22-year career in clinical work and community education and has taught a wide range of courses, including Forensic Psychology, Psychology of Addiction, The Family, Counseling Theories and Practices, Human Sexuality, Psychology of Personality, and Topics in Psychology. A licensed mental health counselor with specialties in addictions, sexual abuse, and loss and grief, she balances the department with practical experience and continues to maintain a small private practice in Angola.
For the past several years, Lenhart has helped to coordinate and support the annual Take Back the Night event on campus and has been active in the fight against sexual abuse and violence in the community.

Marlene Sweet (2007)

Marlene Sweet joined the Department of Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Social Sciences as a full time faculty member in the fall of 2007, after serving as the counselor for TSU students since 1998. Since 1999 Ms. Sweet served as an adjunct for psychology. Prior to coming to Tri-State, Marlene was an outpatient therapist in community mental health (Branch County Michigan). Ms. Sweet’s past professional experience includes Parkview Behavioral Health, in addition to contractual work for the state’s Division of Family & Children Services, among others, cumulating to more than twenty years of clinical and case management service.
At TSU, Sweet teaches a wide range of courses including Forensic Psychology, Psychology of Addiction, Principles of Psychology, and other related subjects. She is also responsible for the development and oversight of internships in psychology, which now number over 30 diverse options for students, including mental health centers, camps, hospital in-patient units, and child protective services.
Sweet has served as an advisor for BACCHUS, a peer education student organization, since its inception at TSU and has played an active part in prevention education initiatives such as National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness, Sexual Assault Awareness, Eating Disorders Awareness, National Depression Screening, and the like.
