Admission to Ensembles

The performing ensembles at Tri-State University are open to all students and faculty. With the exception of the jazz ensembles there is no limit to the number of musicians that each ensemble can accept. There is no audition at this time for acceptance into the ensembles but there will be an audition so the ability level of the ensemble can be ascertained for selection of music and for chair placement.

An audition for selection into the jazz ensembles will be required due to the specific instrumentation. Students will be expected to prepare a short excerpt and improvise to F blues changes.

One of the main goals of the Tri-State University performing ensembles is to offer students a means to relax and express themselves by giving them the opportunity to create quality music of which they can be proud. The audition procedure is not meant to put undue stress on the musician but it is necessary to achieve a quality ensemble.
