Tri-State Men’s Golf Team Still Fighting for Conference Title
The Tri-State University men’s golf team holds a narrow lead in the MIAA Conference after placing third at the jamboree held at Watermark Country Club. Tri-State finished with a score of 321, behind first place Hope with 314, and second place Olivet with 317. Joel Bickel tied for fifth, shooting a 79, while Matt Haneline tied for eighth with an 80.
The Thunder now hold a two stroke lead over Hope heading into the final jamboree on Saturday at Lenawee Country Club.

Tri-State Men’s Golf Continues to Lead MIAA Conference
The Tri-State University men’s golf team holds a nine stroke lead over Hope College in the conference battle with two conference jamborees remaining. Tri-State finished two strokes behind Hope in the MIAA jamboree hosted by Hope. Justin Howard was medalist, shooting a 71. This was the fourth time a Tri-State player has been medalist in six jamborees. Jerid Winkle shot a 74, which was good for sixth place.
Tri-State will defend their conference lead on October 4th at next conference jamboree hosted by Calvin College.

Tri-State Men’s Golf Second at MIAA Jamboree
The Tri-State University men’s golf team was second to Hope College at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Alma College. The Thunder shot a 293, one stroke behind Hope. Joel Bickel earned medalist honors for Tri-State, shooting a 71. Justin Howard and Matt Haneline each shot a 73 and finished in third place.
Tri-State now has an 11 stroke lead in the conference over Hope College. Tri-State travels to Hope College today for the sixth conference jamboree of the season.
September 23
Tri-State Men’s Golf Dominates at Ken Venturi Invitational
The Tri-State University men’s golf team captured the Ken Venturi Invitational held at Zollner Golf Course. The Thunder shot a 283, which was eight strokes ahead of second place Davenport University.
Justin Howard led the way with an impressive round of 67 to earn medalist honors. Jerid Winkle followed with a 70 in third place. Rounding out the top five was Joel Bickle, shooting a 71.
September 23
Tri-State Men’s Golf Retains Conference Lead
The Tri-State University men’s golf team finished third at the MIAA Jamboree with a score of 306. Hope took first place with a score of 297 and Olivet followed in second with a 300. The Thunder still retains the overall conference lead by 12 strokes over second place Hope College.
Jerid Winkle, Justin Howard, and Matt Haneline all tied for ninth for Tri-State with a 76. Tommy Yamaoko of Hope earned medalist honors, shooting a 71.
September 18
Tri-State Men’s Golf Shoots New School Low
The Tri-State University men’s golf team shot a new school low of 278 in winning their second MIAA jamboree of the season. As a team Tri-State shot 10 under par. Olivet College finished second with a 289.
The Thunder had three players at the top of the pack, led by medalist Justin Howard, who shot a 68. Joel Bickel and Jerid Winkle followed, shooting a 69 and 70. Jordan Schroeder also landed in the top ten, tied for fifth with a 71.
Tri-State increased their conference lead over second place Hope College. The Thunder now has an average of 296.3 compared to Hope's 303.3 Hope shot a 291 on the day and finished in third place. Conference action resumes on Wednesday as Kalamazoo College hosts the jamboree at Lake Doster Golf Course.
September 15
Tri-State Men’s Golf Second at MIAA Jamboree
The Tri-State University men’s golf team increased their lead in the conference standings with a second place finish at Olivet. Host Olivet shot a 294 and Tri-State was one stroke behind with a 295. The Thunder has shot a 611 after two conference jamborees, which is eight strokes ahead of second place Hope College.
Tri-State had a strong team showing as all golfers finished in the top ten. Justin Howard led Tri-State with a fourth place finish, shooting a 72. Jerid Winkle and Jordan Schroeder followed in sixth with a score of 74. Matt Haneline shot a 75 for eighth and Joel Bickel rounded things out with a 76.
The Thunder return to MIAA action on Saturday as they host the conference jamboree at Zollner Golf Course.
September 9
Tri-State Men’s Golf First at MIAA Jamboree
The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed first at their first ever MIAA Jamboree held at the Medalist Golf Course. The Thunder shot three strokes better than second place Hope College.
Medalist honors went to Jerid Winkle with a score of 75. Jordan Schroeder tied for third for the Thunder with a score of 78. Joel Bickle shot an 81, which was good for ninth place.
Tri-State returns to the links on September 10-11 at the Bedford Valley Golf Course for the Olivet College Tournament.
September 7
Tri-State Men’s Golf Fourth at Olivet Classic
The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed fourth out of 21 teams at the Olivet College Comet Classic. The Thunder shot a two day total of 606. Franklin College placed first with a two day total of 593.
Tim Fish of Franklin College earned medalist honors with a total of 144. Joel Bickle led the way for the Thunder with a 149, which was good for ninth place.
The Thunder open MIAA action on Wednesday, September 8th at Albion College.
