Tri-State Men’s Soccer Shut Out By Kalamazoo 

The Tri-State University men’s soccer team fell to Kalamazoo College by a score of 3-0.  The Thunder came up empty on all eight shot attempts while Kalamazoo connected on three of their eighteen attempts.  On the bright side, Adam Franczak came up with nine saves for the Thunder.

Tri-State now drops to 0-10 on the season and 0-6 in the conference.  Kalamazoo improves to 4-6 on the season and moves up to 2-3 in the conference. 

Next, the Thunder will travel to New York to play Nyack College on Saturday.

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Loses Another Heartbreaker in Overtime 

            The Tri-State University men’s soccer team lost yet another game in overtime.  Alma beat the Thunder by a score of 2-1.  Tri-State finally put a point of the board late in the 2nd period with a 77th minute goal by Dustin Gallegos.  Scott Snyder ended the game in O.T. with a 99th minute header. 

            The Thunder now are 0-9 on the season putting them at 0-5 in the conference.  Alma improves to 3-7 on the season and 3-1 in the conference.  Next the Thunder will host another conference opponent, Kalamazoo, on Wednesday.

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Loses Overtime Thriller to Albion 

            The Tri-State University men’s soccer team lost a hard fought over-time game to Albion by a score of 3-2.  Dustin Gallegos gave the Thunder the lead in the first half by scoring the first goal of the game, assisted by Matt Pulford, in the 21st minute.  In the second half Richard Blasey added another goal for Tri-State in the 55th minute which was again assisted by Matt Pulford. Unfortunately for the Thunder, George Wimbrow scored the over-time winner for Albion in the 101st minute. 

            Tri-State now drops to 0-8 on the season and 0-4 in the conference.  Albion moves up to 4-4-1 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.  Next, the Thunder host conference opponent Alma on Saturday for Homecoming.

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Defeated by Adrian Bulldogs 

            The Tri-State University men’s soccer team lost to Adrian 3-0.  Tri-State drops their record to 0-7 on the season and 0-3 in MIAA play.  Adrian is now 3-3-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference action.

            Adrian had 18 shots on the day, while the Thunder only had 11 in the game.  Adam Franczak had four saves in the first half and Mike Smercina had five saves in the second half.

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Comes Up Short Against Hope  

            The Tri-State University men’s soccer team lost to Hope by a score of 4-1.  Hope held a 2-0 advantage after one half and added two more goals in the second half.  Scoring the lone goal for the Thunder in the 65th minute was sophomore Zach White.  Leading the Dutchmen with a goal as well as an assist was Bryan Johnson.

            Tri-State now drops to 0-6 on the season, putting them at 0-2 in the conference.  Hope improves to 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.  Next, the Thunder will travel to Adrian to face the Bulldogs in another conference game on Saturday.

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Drops Conference Opener

             The Tri-State University men’s soccer team lost their first conference game of the season to Calvin College by a score of 3-0.  The Thunder were out shot by the Knights 16-3 in the loss.  Joel Veldhouse led the Knights in scoring with 2 goals and he also chipped in one assist.  Calvin improves to 6-0-1 on the season and 1-0 in the conference, while Tri-State drops to 0-5-1 and 0-1 in the conference.

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Falls to Saint Francis in OT 

            The Tri-State University men’s soccer team fell to Saint Francis 2-1 in overtime.  Tri-State falls to 0-4 on the season and the Cougars improve to 2-3-1

            Saint Francis took a 1-0 lead into the half off a penalty kick by Zach Linson.  The Thunder tied the score at the 65 minute mark off a goal by Sean Porter.  The Cougars took the victory two minutes into overtime off a shot by Zach Harden.  For the game, goalkeeper Mike Smercina had nine saves. 

            Tri-State returns home for their conference opener against Calvin College on Saturday.  The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Blanked by Goshen 

            The Tri-State University men’s soccer team lost to Goshen 3-0.  Goshen outshot the Thunder 14-6.  Todd Pletcher of Goshen had one goal and one assist.  Thunder goalkeeper Mike Smercina had three saves on the day.

            Tri-State is now 0-3 on the season.  The Thunder return to action on Tuesday, September 14th at the University of Saint Francis

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Loses Heartbreaker to Davenport 

            The Tri-State University men’s soccer team lost to Davenport 2-1 on an unassisted goal by Chris Cecco as time expired in their final game of the Ketner Classic.  Taylor University defeated Rochester in today’s first game to win the Ketner Classic. 

            Matt Pulford scored the Thunder goal off an assist from Trevor Ferrell to take a 1-0 lead after the first half.  Davenport tied the game at the 84 minute mark on a goal from Dave Warsen.  Both teams battled back and forth unable to score until Cecco connected on the game winning goal as time expired.

Tri-State Men’s Soccer Defeated in Opening Game 

            The Tri-State University men’s soccer team was defeated 1-0 by Rochester College in their opening game of the Ralph Ketner Tournament.  Adrian Gonzalez of Rochester scored the games lone goal at the 6:35 mark.  Mike Smercina had four saves while allowing one goal. 

            In game one of the Ralph Ketner Tournament, Taylor University Davenport University 3-1.  The action continues tomorrow at noon when Taylor takes on Rochester.  Tri-State returns to action at 2:30 p.m. against Davenport.
