Tri-State Men’s Tennis Ends Season with a Victory
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team ended their season with a 5-4 win over Alma College. Chad Mynheir was the deciding match with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory at #6 singles. Andy Steiner was a winner at #2 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and Chris Baut was victorious at #4 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Steve Johnson and Dan Wiedemann fought to a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory at #3 doubles. Mike Whitton and Chris Baut were winners at #2 doubles, 8-4. Tri-State ends their season with a record of 5-14.
April 19
Tri-State Men’s Tennis Loses to Aquinas
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team fell to Aquinas 0-9. Tri-State was competitive in doubles with the #1 doubles team of Pat Hoelscher and Andy Steiner going down 8-4. Chad Mynheir and Dan Wiedemann were defeated 8-3 at #3 doubles.
Tri-State drops their season record to 4-16. Tri-State returns to action on Tuesday, April 20th at home against Spring Arbor.
April 16
Tri-State Tennis Teams Compete at Indiana Wesleyan
The Tri-State University men’s and women’s tennis teams competed at Indiana Wesleyan University. The men’s team was defeated 0-9 and the women’s team went down 0-9. Dan Wiedemann went down in three sets at #6 singles 7-5, 1-6, 7-5. Tri-State had strong doubles play at #1 and #3. The #1 team of Pat Hoelscher and Andy Steiner were defeated 9-8 and Steve Johnson and Dan Wiedemann were defeated 9-8 at #3 doubles.
The men’s team is now 4-13 on the season. They will return to action Saturday, April 17th at Aquinas. The women’s team drops their season record to 1-12. They will return to the court for their final match of the season on Monday, April 19th at home against Spring Arbor.
April 15
Tri-State Men’s Tennis Defeated by Kalamazoo
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team was defeated by Kalamazoo College 1-8. The lone winner for Tri-State was Chris Baut at #6 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. The #1 doubles team of Pat Hoelscher and Andy Steiner was defeated in a tough 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 loss. Tri-State is now 4-12 on the season.
April 13
Tri-State Men’s Tennis Lose Close Matches Against Hope
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team fought in three three set matches on their way to a 2-7 loss to Hope College. Tri-State is now 4-11 on the season.
Andy Steiner continues on his winning ways at #2 singles with a 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) victory. Steiner was down 1-6 in the second set tie-break and fought back to win the tie-break and the match 8-6. Pat Hoelscher was defeated 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at #1 singles and Mike Whitton went down 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 at #3 singles.
Tri-State returns to the court Wednesday, April 14th at home against Kalamazoo College.
April 9
Tri-State Men’s Tennis Falls to Kalamazoo Valley CC
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team was defeated 7-2 by a tough Kalamazoo Valley Community College team. This loss drops the team’s record to 4-10 on the season.
Andy Steiner had a good win at #2 singles by a score of 6-3, 7-5. The #3 doubles team of Dan Wiedemann and Steve Johnson won 8-4. The team returns to action at home Monday, April 12th against Hope College.
April 8
Tri-State Men’s Tennis Defeats Defiance
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team improved their season record to 4-10 with a 6-3 victory over Defiance College.
Winner for Tri-State included Pat Hoelscher (#1), Andy Steiner (#2), Mike Whitton (#3), and Steve Johnson (#5). The doubles teams of Mike Whitton and Chris Baut were victorious 8-4 and Steve Johnson and Dan Wiedemann won 8-5.
The tennis team returns to action Friday, April 9th at home against Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
April 5
Tri-State Men’s Tennis Downed by Calvin College
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team was defeated 9-0 by Calvin College. Andy Steiner took the #2 singles match to three sets before going down 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Dan Wiedemann also lost in three sets at #6 singles by a score of 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. Tri-State is now 3-11 on the season. The Thunder return to action Tuesday, April 6th at Defiance College.

Tri-State Men’s Tennis Victorious Against Huntington
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team defeated Huntington College 7-2. Tri-State improves their season record to 3-10.
Andy Steiner extended his win streak to five with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #2 singles. Also earning a win in singles were Mike Whitton (#3), Chris Baut (#4), and Dan Wiedemann (#6). Tri-State swept the doubles with three victories. Pat Hoelscher and Steiner won 7-6, 6-2, Whitton and Baut won 1-6, 7-6, 6-4, and Steve Johnson and Wiedemann won 6-4, 6-1.

Tri-State Men’s Tennis Suffers Tough Loss to Spring Arbor
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team suffered a tough 5-4 loss to Spring Arbor. The #1 doubles team of Pat Hoelscher and Andy Steiner defeated a good Spring Arbor team 9-8. Steve Johnson and Dan Wiedemann were victorious at #3 doubles by a score of 8-4. Steiner and Wiedemann were double winners, with each picking up a victory in singles.
Tri-State is now 2-10 on the season. The Thunder return to action April 1st at Huntington College

Tri-State Men’s Tennis Breeze Past Adrian
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team defeated Adrian College by a score of 8-1. Pat Hoelscher won a close match 7-5, 7-5 in #1 singles. The #1 doubles team of Hoelscher and Andy Steiner were victorious by a score of 7-5, 6-4. The #2 doubles team of Mike Whitton and Chris Baut won a tough battle 6-7, 7-5, 6-2. Tri-State improves their season record to 2-9. The Thunder return to action April 1st at Huntington College.

Tri-State Men’s Tennis Shows Inexperience in Loss to GRCC
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team was defeated 3-6 by Grand Rapids Community College. The Thunder’s inexperience and inconsistency cost them in the close matches. Andy Steiner was victorious at #2 singles with a 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 win. Mike Whitton won 6-3, 6-2 at #3 singles. The #2 doubles team of Mike Whitton and Chris Baut won 9-7. The Thunder drop their season record to 1-7. Tri-State men’s tennis returns to action Saturday, March 20th at Spring Arbor University.

Tri-State Men’s Tennis Opens Season Against Albion College
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team opened their season with a 9-0 loss to Albion College. Pat Hoelscher played very well at #1 singles in his opening match of the season. Hoelscher was defeated 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. Andy Steiner at #2 singles played well in his opening match of the season in a 6-3, 6-3 loss. The #3 doubles team of Steve Johnson and Dan Wiedemann were defeated in three sets 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. Tri-State returns to action in Orlando, Florida Feb. 29th – March 5th.
