

| Sheila Wallace Kovalchik, Director of
Athletics
Wallace Kovalchik excelled as an undergraduate athlete at Central Michigan University. In 1996, she was inducted into the CMU Athletics Hall of Fame. She continued her education at Bowling Green University, earning a Masters in Health and Physical Education in 1969. In 1969, Wallace Kovalchik began her teaching and coaching career at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, an NCAA Division III school. She became a professor of health, physical education and sports studies and head volleyball coach. She chaired the NCAA Division III volleyball committee from 1983 to 1988. In 1991, she retired from coaching with the second best volleyball record in NCAA Division III history. She amassed 569 wins against 196 losses and led her teams through 12 consecutive seasons of 30 or more victories. In 1987 she was voted the NCAA’s Division III women's volleyball Coach-of-the-Year. In 1991, Wallace Kovalchik was inducted into both the Ohio Northern University Athletics Hall of Fame and the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. She has served on the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics, the NCAA Division III Championships Committee, and as president of the Division III Commissioner's Association.
