General
Business allows you to “test drive” a TSU business major!
Many students have a general idea that they want to have a business
career but are not yet ready to commit themselves to a specific
focus. The general business program provides students with the
opportunity to “test drive” business opportunities
by taking a variety of courses. All courses transfer easily into
every TSU business major.
Students taking the general business curriculum can choose a
major by the end of their second year and still be on track for
graduation in four years.
The Ketner School of Business (KSOB) offers a hands-on, practical
business education with an entrepreneurial focus. Graduates from
KSOB are well-prepared to begin their careers in a wide range
of industries and businesses—from large corporations, to
non-profit organizations, to family-run and small business enterprises.
Because a large number of our students go on to work in leadership
roles in family businesses, or even start their own businesses,
the KSOB core curriculum exposes students to a wide range of disciplines
within business, and focuses on providing students access to numerous
opportunities to build skills and technical proficiency through
experiential learning. Amidst the backdrop of corporate business
scandals and executive dishonesty of recent years, the Ketner
School of Business is deeply committed—through classroom
discussion, case analyses, and student leadership opportunities—to
developing business graduates with the highest degree of personal
and professional integrity.
All KSOB faculty have work or consulting experience in their fields
of expertise; real-world experiences, perspectives, and insights
are shared in a personal classroom environment in which students
and faculty freely interact. KSOB students develop a strong sense
of community within the School and with the greater Angola area
as well. By participating in student organizations such as Students
in Free Enterprise, KSOB students work on projects that provide concrete business
solutions for area businesses and organizations, and offer their
business acumen in community service projects.
Because KSOB students graduate with a rich variety of practical
experiences as well as a solid academic foundation, TSU business
graduates confidently make a smooth transition from college life
to the work world. Regional employers take notice of TSU grads:
Nearly half of KSOB’s most recent senior class accepted
jobs even before graduation. Our commitment to students’
personal, professional, and ethical growth leads our graduates
to solid career opportunities within all facets of the business
world.
