Dan Callahan

Dan Callahan teaches Wellness and Officiating for the HPS department.

Dr. Anspaugh is the Athletic Director and Professor of HPS. Dr.
Anspaugh is a national known author having published over 25 editions
of textbooks and over 100 referred journal articles. He has serve
as president of national, regional, and state professional organizations.
He has received four distinguished teaching awards, three scholar
awards, and three honor awards from professional associations.
He is currently the Midwest Health Educator of the Year and serves
as Indiana President of the Association of Health, Physical Education.

Bill
Maddock

Bill Maddock has been a professor and coach at Tri-State University
for the past eight years. He started his professional career as
an elementary physical education teacher and coach and then moved
to the private sector where he spent over 20 years as a U.S.P.T.A.
tennis professional at a number of tennis clubs in Florida and
Michigan. Professor Bill Maddock is now the Chair of the Health,
Physical Education, and Sports Management Department and the Thunder
Men and Women’s Tennis Coach. He earned his Master of Science
degree from the University of Tennessee in the areas of Sport
Psychology and Motor Learning. As a professor he teaches a variety
of courses including sport psychology, motor learning, history
of sport, and teaching pedagogy. He is active as a member of the
board of IAAHPERD and will present at the 2006 IAAHPERD State
Convention in November 2006. As the Chair of the HPS Department
he spends a lot of his time greeting and educating prospective
students and their parents of the three degrees offered by the
HPS Department.

Denise
Magwire
B.S. in Health/Physical Education K-12 (Tri-State University)
M.S. in Recreation with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation
(Indiana University) Magwire is a part-time adjunct professor
for the Health, Physical Education, and Sport Management Department
at TSU. Her specialty is Adapted Physical Education, but she also
instructs in the areas of Philosophy of Sports & Recreation
and Leadership in Sports & Recreation. She is an advisor for
the HPS Majors Club, which she helped form here at Tri-State.
Magwire is an active member in the IAHPERD organization and a
member of AAHPERD & AAPAR. She is the Program Director for
the IAHPERD Adapted Physical Education Program Council. Her duties
with this appointment include presenting and assisting in setting
up the adapted physical education sessions for the state conference.
Magwire has coordinated spring workshops
for area teachers and college students sponsored by the HPS Department
in 2005 and 2006. Her previous job experiences have included working
with special education cooperatives, parks and recreation departments,
group home companies, and consulting. Magwire is best known in
Steuben County for her work with the Steuben County Mental Health
Association as coordinator/presenter for the Kids on the Block
program offered in all the county elementary schools.

Jon
D. Smith

Mr. Smith is the Head Athletic Trainer for the Thunder Athletic
Department. Before coming to Tri-State University he worked in
outpatient physical therapy and clinical athletic training outreach.
Mr. Smith is a member of the NATA, GLATA, IATA, and AAHPERD. Mr.
Smith can help you with your academic questions, or your sports
related injury.

Susan
Anspaugh

Ms. Anspaugh has coauthored Health Promotion Programming which
is in its second edition. She is currently revising the instructor’s
manual for the 8th Edition of Teaching Today’s Health. Ms.
Anspaugh serves on the board of the Steuben County Women in Transition
and the Steuben County Mental Health Committee.
