Joined his wife, Helen McCloy, to found Torquil Publishing Company, which published his books under the pseudonym of Brett Halliday, writer of the famous Michael Shayne detective series.

Joined his Kitsuda Engineering Company in Tokyo, Japan with the Homer Donaldson Company in a joint venture to form Kecy Products in Hudson, Mich. From six employees and only 16,000 square feet, Kecy has expanded into an 84,000-square-foot facility.

Helped develop the Studebaker automobile.

Co-founded Food Lion LLC, which operates more than 1,200 supermarkets, either directly or through affiliated entities, under the names of Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom Dollar Food, Harvey¹s, and Reid¹s. Food Lion LLC employs approximately 73,000 associates in 11 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.

Joined his father, Leonard, and brother, Frenchy, at Reel Pipe and Valve in Indianapolis. The company is a pipe, valve, and fitting manufacturer.

Founded Quintron Corp. The company specializes in engineering and manufacturing, with decades of proven performance in the design, development, and deployment of integrated communications and security systems.

Dwight Donaldson, EE '64
Started D&L Communications in Fort Wayne, Ind., which would become the largest GE Mobile Communications company in the world, with over 105 employees that install systems.

Took over Moffett Precision Products, which designed the passport tipping machine for the U.S. government in 1990.

Keith Turner, ME '76, and Rick James, BAD '76
Decided to partner in acquiring an existing foundry and build it into Metal Technologies. They built their business to encompass the globe, with five plants in Germany, Mexico, and Canada, as well as in the U.S.

Developed a 450-acre retirement village east of Sebring, Fla., called The Villages of Highlands Ridge, protecting more than 100 acres of native habitat. He is also the owner of Portage Communities in Tampa, Fla.

Founded the communications-based business Vikimatic Sales, building it into a premier distributor of fiber optic construction products. The company is now a private line within TVC Communications.

Became president of The Hiller Group, founded in 1975 by Hiller¹s father, Wesley, as a seller of energy products. Today, under Marty Hiller¹s leadership, the company sells carbon products throughout the world and is one of the largest aviation fuel resellers in the United States.

Established Gosselin Group, Inc. in Grand Rapids, Mich., which specializes in civil engineering, surveying, planning, plan review, and land splits.
