Preparing for Emergencies
- Be familiar with your building's floor plan.
- Locate a primary emergency exit along with a back-up in case your primary exit is blocked.
- Participate in fire and tornado drills
Shelter in Place
A "Shelter in Place" situation means that you must remain in the place you are when the order is given.
During that time:
- Stay inside the building, preferable your office or residence hall room.
- Seek inside shelter if outside.
- Seal off openings to your room if possible.
- Remain in place until you are told by emergency or University personnel that it is safe to be outside.
