Crime and violent behavior may include the following identified behaviors. The appropriate first step in any of these situations is to call 911 and ask for help.
Loitering
Loitering includes persons who solicit for money, obstruct university business, block doorways or access to buildings and services, and sleep on furniture.
- Call Campus Safety (260.316.1877) and report.
Disoriented People
Disorientation may indicate a medical problem, mental impairment, or the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- If the person is violent, call 911.
- Call Campus Safety (260.316.1877) for assistance.
- Do not go through personal property to get identifying information. Let the proper authorities handle it.
- Call the university counselor at 665-4172.
Verbal Threats
Verbal threats include threats to physically harm another person or threats to intentionally damage University property.
- Take all threats seriously.
- Report the incident to Campus Safety (260.316.1877).
- Be prepared to identify the person with name, address, phone number, if possible. If you do not know the person, and name and address are not available, give an accurate physical description.
Physically Aggressive or Threatening Behaviors
Physically aggressive or threatening behaviors include the threat or display of a weapon, acts of physical aggression or destruction of University or personal property.
- In case of immediate danger call 911.
- Avoid using force or restraint unless critically necessary to protect yourself.
- Notify Campus Safety (260.316.1877).
