The Tri-State University Dance Team was formed in 1999
and performs at TSU football and basketball home games.
The team meets for practice at least twice a week during
the school year. During the off season the members attend
camp to bring back new ideas for the next year. The
team also performs yearly at a local assisted living community
and other community events. The team is supported by student
senate and our own fundraising efforts.
Last year the dance team
has evolved in to a fantastic group! The team had doubled
in size since the football season began and there were
13 dancers for basketball season.
They have performed at home football games and
set up a booth at a local fall fest, where they did face
painting and sold hair scrunchies as a fundraiser. The
2004-2005 dance team was a diverse group of girls who
have contributed to the ongoing success of the team
by combining many different strengths and ideas.
During the 2003-2004 School
year the TSU Thunder Dance Team had the opportunity to
perform at Conseco Field House in Indianapolis,
Indiana,
prior to an Indiana Pacers home basketball game. The dance
team also visited and performed for the residents of Cameron
Woods, in Angola.
Other activities last year included fun face painting
at an area fall fest, and conducting a dance camp for
area elementary school students. After completing the
camp, the elementary students performed for parents and
fans at halftime of a Thunder basketball game.
