Education Committees

TEPAC—Teacher Education Programs Advisory Committee
The members of the Teacher Education Programs Advisory Committee are the chairs of the various departments that offer education majors and the academic advisors for each education major. Each department has one vote when decisions are made.

TEC—Teacher Education Committee
The members of the Teacher Education Committee (TEC) are all full and part-time school faculty members, representatives from all other departments that offer teacher preparation programs (mathematics, English, science, social science, health/physical education), and a representative selected by the student education organization (SEA). Each department selects its representative(s) to the committee. The committee meets three weeks prior to the beginning of each semester. The primary purpose of the committee is to respond to candidate request. The committee, by majority vote, reaches a decision in each case brought before it. The decision of the committee is the final decision. The dean of the Franks School of Education may call a special meeting of the committee. The TEC also proposes revisions of standards and policies. In these matters, recommendations are forwarded to the FSOE, and, in some cases, such as curricular change, to TEPAC and then to the FSOE for final action.

TEAC—Teacher Education Advisory Committee
The members of the Teacher Education Advisory Committee (TEAC) include all full and part-time school faculty members, area school administrators, business personnel, elementary education students and alumni, secondary education students, and area elementary and secondary teachers. The committee meets two times each year, or more frequently if necessary, to examine departmental programs and make recommendations leading to program improvement and policy change. An elementary candidate and a secondary candidate selected by the student organization serve on the committee.

CET—Committee on Educational Technology
The issues surrounding the use of multimedia presentations and other uses of technology by educators is of concern to the Franks School of Education. The rapid changes in this area vastly affect the way future educators will use technology in their classrooms. The Franks School of Education Committee on Education Technology investigates these issues and addresses technological advances that directly impact future teachers. The CET makes recommendations to the school regarding purchasing and instruction. The CET meets two times each year, or more frequently if needed. The membership of the CET includes a Franks School of Education faculty member, a University computer center staff member, and the schools’ media center director, and a teacher education candidate selected by the student organization.

FSOE—Franks School of Education Faculty Committee
The members of the Franks School of Education Committee (FSOE) are all full and part-time school faculty members. The committee meets weekly to plan, coordinate, assess, analyze, and respond to the actions of other committees. The committee also analyzes and plans based on the results of various data collection measures. Adjunct faculty meet with the committee several times throughout the year.
