Requirements

You must qualify for admission into the Allen School of Engineering and Technology with minimum SAT scores of 1000 (R+M and Math subscore of 550) or ACT Composite score of 22 (Math subscore of 23), a high-school GPA of 3.0 and must rank in the top half of your class. Students may transfer into the major with grades of C or better from College-level Chemistry, Calculus I, and English Composition.

You'll do well in the major if you are a clear, logical thinker. It is very useful to be a natural with visualization -- we use many diagrams every day. In high school, people like this are often good at math and/or physics.

We do NOT expect that you have experience in electrical engineering, or as an electrician! Most of us do very little wiring, although lots of people think we must. Some EEs design new construction wiring, but telecommunications and motors students have other concerns.
