Welcome from Dr. Roger Hawks, Dean
Dr. Hawks' Biography

Engineering
education and innovation have been a hallmark of the University
since 1902. Personal faculty mentoring (most classes range from
only 10 to 20 students) and hands-on access to state-of-the-art
facilities, combined with a wide range of high quality engineering
programs, offer students an exceptional, yet affordable, private
education experience. The Allen School of Engineering & Technology
has a strong reputation in the region for graduating talented,
skilled, and remarkably well-prepared individuals. Graduates from
the School are highly sought by industry employers: On average,
over 95 percent of graduates find major-related employment within
six months of graduation. TSU graduates go on to have successful
careers with remarkable track records of advancement with some
of the region’s most distinguished employers.
The rigorous curricula of the School integrate theory with practice.
Real world situations are frequently presented to instruct students
in the practical application of classroom theories. Outside the
classroom, students have access to a wide range of cooperative
education and internship opportunities that give students the
credential that employers value: experience.
The School’s faculty is dedicated to undergraduate teaching;
student success is their top priority. There are no teaching assistants
in any of the engineering programs. And small class sizes offer
students the opportunity to interact in an intellectually stimulating,
interactive, exciting learning environment.
The School is home to exceptional engineering facilities. The
recent $5 million renovation of the Thomas L. Fawick Hall of Engineering,
including its 20-plus engineering labs, makes it one of the finest
undergraduate engineering facilities in the country.
