Bio: I received a BA in Design from Southern Illinois University and then had the opportunity to earn a MS in Engineering from Southern Illinois University. While working on my master’s degree I developed an interest in the manufacturing industries and am a Certified Manufacturing Engineer. Over the years I have developed an expertise in Computer Aided Drafting and Manufacturing and have done considerable consulting work in both areas.

I worked in industry when I completed college for a short period of time and have continued my relationship with industry through my consultant activities. An opportunity to enter academia at Tri-State University presented itself and I have never regretted my decision to take up a career of teaching. I teach many of the classes in the program and I find working with the students to be most rewarding. I like to talk with graduates and see how their lives have developed. It is most rewarding to know that I may have played some small part in their success.

Outside of the university I have been involved in local politics for many years and am currently council-at-large for the Angola Common Council. I have been able to bring many of my experiences on the Council to class as examples of just how things get done.

With my wife Carolyn I have raised four sons and one daughter. The oldest son is a farm manager, two of my sons have degrees in Civil Engineering, one of them from Tri-State University, and work in heavy and highway construction. The other son is a computer specialist. My daughter, the youngest, is a college sophomore studying Consumer and Family Science.

My hobbies are woodworking, some of which decorates my office, and weather. I have been a cooperative weather observer for Angola for the past 30 years, and doing volunteer work. I serve on several boards that keep me involved with education and teaching. I have found Angola to be a great place to live and Tri-State University a great place to study.
