John Wagner has a background in both traditional chemical
engineering as well as biomedical engineering. After receiving
his BS in Chemical Engineering in his home state of Colorado,
John moved to Houston, Texas and worked as a process engineer
for Shell Oil. While in Houston, John completed his doctorate
in chemical engineering at Rice University. John’s
biomedical research topic at Rice University was performed
in the laboratories of NASA’s Johnson Space Center
and involved the permeability of the blood brain barrier.
After completing his doctorate, John took a job as an assistant
professor at Tri-State University in Angola Indiana. John
enjoys teaching and is especially interested in creativity
in the design and problem solving process.
Internal Accomplishments (service)
• Member of the TSU- HLC Self Study Committee
• Developed a foods laboratory that can be used in
outreach programs
• Advisor to the Chemical Engineering Honor Society
• Refined a course module on electrical circuits and
material science for chemical engineering majors
• Developed new bio-fuels laboratory that was used
by the chemical engineering seniors

• Member of the NCEES Chemical Engineering FE Review

• Chair of the Regional JETS-Teams Competition for
area high school students
• Attend American Society for Engineering Education
