Master of Engineering
Well qualified high-school graduates may be admitted directly into the five-year BS/ME engineering program. These students will be changed to graduate status after 134 credit hours, at which time they must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.8. (The grade point average requirement will be waived for students who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination.) Students who do not meet this standard will not be given graduate status and will be awarded the appropriate bachelor’s degree when all the BS requirements have been met. Students attaining graduate status will be awarded both the Bachelor of Science in the appropriate engineering field and the Master of Engineering degree when all requirements have been completed.
Students seeking the Master of Engineering degree only must have a BS degree in the appropriate engineering field, or a closely related discipline. A grade point average of 3.0 or higher is recommended. Special consideration will be given to those applicants who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination. Transfer credits from another institution will not normally be allowed, and courses used to satisfy the requirements of a bachelor’s degree cannot be applied toward the master’s degree. Applicants whose native language is not English must have a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based or 213 on the computer based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
