Yalcin M. Ertekin

Dr. Ertekin received his BS. degree in mechanical engineering
from Istanbul Technical University (ITÜ). Then, he attended
the Business School of Istanbul University and received a MS degree
in Production Management. After completing his military service
in the Turkish Navy, he worked for Chrysler Truck Manufacturing
Company in Turkey as a project engineer. He received dual MS.
degrees in Engineering Management and Mechanical engineering in
1993 at University of Missouri Rolla. He worked for Toyota Motor
Corporation as a quality assurance engineer for two years and
lived in Toyota City, Japan for four months during that time.
He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from University
of Missouri-Rolla in 1999. While working on his Ph.D. dissertation,
he worked as a quality engineer for Lumbee Enterprises in St.
Louis, Missouri. His first teaching position was at the Architectural
and Manufacturing sciences department of Western Kentucky University,
Bowling Green-Kentucky. He came to Tri-State University in 2003
to teach mainly graduate courses in Master of Science in Engineering
Technology (MSET) program as well as undergraduate courses in
engineering technology and mechanical engineering. His area of
expertise is in manufacturing processes, CAD/CAM, CNC machining,
quality control and dimensional metrology. His research interest
is in sensor based CNC machining, machine tool accuracy enhancement,
cutting tool wear, machining process optimization, lean manufacturing,
design for manufacturing and Quality Control. He likes very much
living in Angola and enjoys surrounding lakes and parks. High
performance cars including Formula 1 racing, swimming, soccer
and bicycle riding are among some of his hobbies. He is married
and has a daughter Aylin and a son Ozan.

R. Thomas Trusty II
Assistant Professor

Tom Trusty received a B.S. in Industrial Technology from Purdue University, where he had the opportunity to assist pioneers in Computer Aided Design in program development and instructional methods. Upon graduation from Purdue, Tom concurrently instructed undergraduates in Computer Graphics at ITT Technical Institute and worked alongside engineering professionals as a CAD consultant in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Relocating to Indiana, Tom earned his Masters degree in Technical Education from Ball State University, chaired the Design Technology and Machine Tool Technology departments at Ivy Tech Community College, provided corporate training in the award-winning AutoDesk Training Center at Ivy Tech, as well as developed industry internships and partnerships with the Indiana chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association. Tom continues to assist engineering, surveying and architectural firms with systems design, CAD programming and training on a consultant basis.
Outside the academic arena, Tom is active in coaching youth basketball and soccer, and has acted as the project manager of a community skate park and IT manager of a grassroots non-profit organization. Tom’s leisure time is spent golfing, boating, hiking and enjoying the outdoors with his wife, Kelly, and two sons, Blake and Evan.
