Success in this major at TSU is aided in our department in the following ways:

• Assignment of one of the department's professors as your advisor (mentor) who will stay with you for your entire academic career at TSU
• You will be taught by highly educated professors whose "first-love" is working with, and motivating students to achieve their full potential
• Small class sizes in which you will receive personalized attention from your professors
• Student tutors can be assigned to assist you in courses in which you may need some extra help
• Department professors are always available to assist students in one-on-one "help sessions" when students need some extra assistance
• Assistance can be provided in obtaining cooperative and internship positions
• Assistance is provided to students in obtaining full-time employment after graduation

Exciting new developments

• The department began a master's degree program in the summer of 2007. Students are afforded the opportunity to take graduate level courses in the summer to attain the 32 semester hours required for the degree.
• The department has developed a proposal to offer a discipline in transportation engineering. This new discipline would be added to the four existing ones: structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, and hydraulics/water resources. The TSU Office for University Advancement is currently seeking funding to initiate this proposal.
• The field of civil and environmental engineering continues to be one of the hottest job markets in the country. TSU graduates normally take their pick from 2–4 job offers at very good starting salaries. Our graduates are in great demand everywhere within the tri-state area. This is a great time to get a civil engineering degree from Tri-State University!
