Abigail Mitchell,
New Paris, Indiana

Class Year: 2003 graduated with simultaneous B.S. degrees in mechanical engineering and mathematics.

Ms. Mitchell graduated with a 4.00 GPA and received the R.B. Stewart award, TSU’s highest academic award given annually at commencement. She is currently working on two Ph.D.s at Notre Dame University, one in mechanical engineering, the other in mathematics. She was recently awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship. Only 900 of these distinguished fellowships are awarded annually for students in all engineering, physical and social science disciplines in the United States. Ms. Mitchell’s research focus at Notre Dame includes robotic manipulators (mechanical engineering) and rook polynomials (mathematics).
