Fire-Fighting Robot

TSU mechanical engineering students are designing and building a fully autonomous robot that can enter a burning building, locate a fire, and then put it out. The robot is sophisticated enough to distinguish between the heat of a fire and that of a human. If the robot locates a stationary human, it can place a radio beacon near the person so that fire crews can rapidly rescue that person. Recognizing that entering a burning building is a very dangerous job, the robot is part of ongoing research efforts throughout the country to save the lives of fire fighters.
