Mechatronics Autonomous Bot Brawls

This contest was the final exam for the mechatronics classes that I taught the Fall of 2004 and the Spring of 2006.  The object of the contest was to find the other teams robot and push it out of the ring.

The students were all given Rokenbok toy cars to begin their project.  They were required to take out the radio control and rely solely on the microprocessor to control the vehicle without any outside influences. They were not allowed to change the drive system of the robot and were all required to use the same power source. The students were not allowed to add anything to their robot that would destroy the other team's robot, but they were allowed to add any sensors or actuators they wanted.  The total weight of the robot was required to stay under 2 pounds.
